En un mundo que cada vez tiene más acceso a la información, la percepción de la realidad se ve amenazada por una fuerza insidiosa: la posverdad. Durante los cursos impartidos para candidaturas inscritas en las elecciones del 5 de mayo del 2024, así como para funcionarios del Tribunal Electoral de Panamá, el personal académico de la institución educativa ALEPH, advirtió sobre esta distorsión deliberada de la realidad que, mediante la manipulación de creencias y emociones, busca moldear la opinión pública y dirigir actitudes sociales.

La reforma constitucional fue un tema central durante las reñidas elecciones de 2023, en las que una participación electoral sin precedentes demostró un fuerte apoyo a los partidos democráticos y progresistas.
Thailand’s constitution was made in 2017 by the military junta government. Although it was approved by referendum, the 2017 Constitution remains highly unpopular due to its origin. Constitutional reform was a central issue during the tightly contested 2023 elections, in which an unprecedented voter turnout demonstrated strong support for democratic and progressive parties. The same demand, of amending the 2017 Constitution, was repeated throughout the 2020-2021 mass protest movement.

The European Commission adopted its Defence of Democracy Package on Tuesday, 12 December 2023. The package encompasses a directive, two recommendations and a communication aiming at shielding European Democracy from malign foreign actors and bolstering democratic resilience from within.
In the age of social media, even small delivery mistakes can lead to the rapid spread of false information, emphasizing the importance of accuracy and transparency to rebuild and strengthen trust in the information ecosystem.
¿Por qué sostenemos que a pesar de esta ampliación constitucional de “las democracias” percibimos un deterioro de la misma? La respuesta es compleja pues abarca distintas dimensiones, entre ellas, la propia confianza de los ciudadanos en el sistema democrático; el decurso de los procesos electorales y sus resultados frente a un futuro ciclo electoral previsto para 2025 con elecciones generales y 2026 con elecciones subnacionales; y finalmente la diferenciada y frágil situación de los partidos políticos como principales protagonistas de la representación.
